Annabel Schofield, who went from being the defining face of London’s 1980s fashion scene to playing the role of Laurel Ellis in the cult series Dallas, has died at the age of 62. According to information confirmed by the magazine, she died on February 28 in Los Angeles after a difficult battle with cancer.
The Welsh native became an integral part of London’s stylish and glamorous fashion scene in the 1980s. Unlike many other models, she spent less time in Paris or Milan and concentrated on fierce British style.
She appeared on hundreds of covers of fashion magazines and she shone in global campaigns for brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Rimmel, Revlon a Boots No. 7. The iconic television commercial for Bugle Boy Jeans also brought her international fame.
Schofield was born on September 4, 1963 in the Welsh town of Llanelli. The film environment has been close to her since she was a child, since her father, John D. Schofield, was a successful British film producer working on blockbusters of the 1990s such as Diamond Quest, Jerry Maguire and As Good as It Gets.
At the height of her modeling career, she moved to Los Angeles, which launched her acting career and appeared in the iconic series Dallas. She was cast in 12 episodes as Laurel Ellis, where she played directly alongside the legendary JR Ewing. She played the role of Alex Noffee in the sci-fi film Solar Crisis alongside Charlton Heston and appeared in the films Dragonard and Eye of the Widow.
Later, she exchanged acting for work behind the camera and participated in the production of big-budget films such as The Curse of the Brothers Grimm, Doom and the City of Ember. In 2010, she founded the production company Bella Bene Productions in Burbank, California, where she worked as an executive producer on advertising, music and fashion projects.
