White House says Spain agreed to cooperate with US Armed Forces

Spain has agreed to cooperate with the United States Armed Forces, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday, a day after President Donald Trump threatened to cut trade ties with Madrid due to its stance against ‌US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

‘I think they heard the president’s message yesterday clearly and unequivocally. As I understand it, in the last few hours they agreed to cooperate with the US Armed Forces,’ Leavitt said at a press conference.

Trump suggested imposing a trade embargo on Madrid due to its refusal to allow US aircraft to use jointly operated naval and air bases in southern Spain for the offensive against Tehran. Spain classified the US and Israeli bombings of Iran as reckless and illegal.
