BYD Dolphin Mini surpasses VW Tera and Hyundai Creta and becomes the best-selling car in retail

The balance released this Wednesday, 4th, by Fenabrave, the dealership entity, confirms that BYD’s Dolphin Mini was the best-selling car at retail in February. It was the first time that, in a month, an electric model was at the top of sales closed in dealership showrooms.

Last month, 4,800 units of the Dolphin Mini were sold, surpassing the numbers recorded at retail by Volkswagen Tera (3,900) and Hyundai Creta (3,600).

The Song, with hybrid propulsion, is another BYD model that appears prominently in this ranking, occupying fourth place, with 3.2 thousand units in February.

The performance is a milestone in the invasion of Chinese cars in Brazil. BYD appears as the fifth best-selling brand in the country when considering all models and sales channels, including deliveries to car rental companies, for example.

In the first two months, the Chinese brand’s share was 6.3%. It is still behind Fiat (21.8%), Volkswagen (16.2%), General Motors (9.7%) and Hyundai (6.6%), but BYD’s goal is to reach leadership by 2030.

In retail, the Chinese automaker is already in third place, with 10.3% of sales, behind only Volkswagen (14.5%) and Fiat (14.1%).
