On Friday in the morning in the village of Novoť in the district of Námestovo on road number III/2270 a traffic accident in which a passenger motor vehicle collided with a minor child at a pedestrian crossing. The child suffered injuries that required him to be airlifted to the hospital. The Žilina Regional Police reported about it on the social network.
“The driver was breathalyzed as well as a preliminary test for the presence of narcotics and psychotropic substances, both with negative results,” the police clarified, adding that other circumstances, the exact cause, as well as the degree of culpability of the traffic accident are the subject of an investigation.
At the same time, the police appeals to all road users to be extremely careful on the roads. “Pedestrians are encouraged to always monitor the road situation before entering a pedestrian crossing and make sure that the driver sees them and gives them priority. At the same time, we ask drivers to pay full attention to driving the vehicle while driving, monitor the traffic situation and reduce speed, especially in places with increased movement of pedestrians and children.” warned the police. They added that caution and mutual consideration can prevent tragic events on the roads.
