Qatar Airways and Emirates, two of the main airlines in the Middle East, reported this Saturday (7) the resumption of operations in the regiondespite progress in the conflict between the US and Iran.
In a statement, Qatar Airways said that, after receiving temporary authorization from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority that there is a safe operational corridor, it will resume repatriation flights today, departing from Hamad International Airport in Doha to the following airports: London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Madrid (MAD), Rome (FCO) and Frankfurt (FRA).
“Priority on these flights was given to stranded passengers with families, elderly passengers and those with urgent medical needs and travel for humanitarian reasons“, he informed, mentioning that the flights do not constitute confirmation of the resumption of regular commercial operations.
Emirates, in turn, published on X that passengers with confirmed reservations for flights today can go to the airport. “Emirates continues to monitor the situation and will adjust its operational schedule in accordance with developments. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and will not be compromised,” he wrote.
As measures to resume operations come shortly after activities at Dubai International Airport (DXB) were temporarily suspended. A government statement did not provide a justification for the suspension, which came after passengers heard a loud bang as they took shelter.
