Daniel Vorcaro’s defense spoke out “surprised and outraged” with the publication of photos of the banker in the prison unit. The lawyers said “there are no limits to the leaking of information with the aim of exposing, wearing down and humiliating their client”, they released in a statement this Friday (6) after sharing images of Vorcaro in prison.

They also stated that they will request the opening of an investigation to investigate the dissemination of “confidential information” in the hope that those responsible for “such arbitrariness” be held responsible.

Finally, the defense wrote that continue to believe in the democratic rule of law and in “respect for the minimum integrity” of those detained.

The images to which Jovem Pan had access show the photo of businessman after being detained in São Paulo, where he stayed in Guarulhos and then in Potim, in the interior of São Paulo, before being sent to Brasília. In the records, he appears with his hair cut, a standard procedure applied to all inmates, in addition to personal and belongings, mandatory cleaning, photographic records and fingerprint collection.

Vorcaro’s transfer was authorized by minister André Mendonça, case reporter. In its decision, which responded to the request of the Federal Police, the transfer is treated as “the physical integrity of the person being investigated”, as the law guarantees the decision. “Those for whom the measure is justified in the interests of public safety or of the prisoner himself, whether convicted or pre-trial will be included in maximum security federal penal establishments,” he argued.

Furthermore, the PF claims there is a risk to public safety if Vorcaro remains in prison in the interior of São Paulo. The corporation says that he has great “articulation and influence” over public and private sector actors, with ability to interfere directly or indirectly in conducting investigations or in the execution of court orders.
