European countries set up 'shield' in Cyprus: France, Germany and Italy have already sent resources

This Monday, the French president will visit Cyprus. The shield being set up on the island gains strength a week after a British air base was hit by a drone.

A week after the attack that hit the British base in Cyprus, several countries are sending resources to reinforce security in the Mediterranean. The French President is scheduled to visit the country on Monday.

Emmanuel Macron goes to the island in the Mediterranean to show that he supports and wants the security of Cyprus, a member of the European Union for 22 years.

France had already sent military reinforcements that included aircraft carriers, frigates and air defense systems.

This Sunday, it was Germany’s turn to bring a frigate to the port of Limassol, joining other warships there at a time when the conflict in Iran is intensifying.

Italy announced that it will send another frigate. Ensure that you are out of the conflict, but want to keep the dialogue constant with France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Also the Türkiye considers sending F-16 fighters to the north of Cyprus to guarantee the security of this part of the island that is occupied by the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which only the Istanbul Government recognizes.

The shield being set up on the island gains strength a week after a British air base was hit by a drone and two others with the same target were intercepted.
