The armed forces of the United States and Israel intensified their bombings against Iran on Saturday night (March 7, 2026), including attacks on oil deposits near Tehran, the capital of the Persian country. The war
The Israeli Prime Minister, (Likud, right), said that attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure are part of attempts to target “many other targets” to destabilize the Iranian government and “allow changes”.
According to the newspaper, the Israeli army claimed to have attacked the fuel depots because they were being used by the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps). Images released on social media this Sunday (8 March) show a large fire at an oil deposit in Tehran.

On Saturday (7 March), US forces intensified attacks against a number of military targets in Iran, including air defense systems and missiles, according to a senior US military official.
According to the agency, Iran’s Foreign Minister said that a US airstrike damaged an Iranian desalination plant on the island of Qeshm, warning that in doing so, “It was the US that created this precedent, not Iran”. This infrastructure is crucial to providing drinking water in the arid deserts of the Gulf.
Iran’s security chief said the country is determined to avenge the death of leader Ali Khamenei on February 28 – the 1st day of the joint offensive between the US and Israel against Iran. Larijani also stated that the US “they must pay the price”.
Iran continued its retaliatory attacks, sending missiles and drones against Arab countries in the Persian Gulf. Air warning sirens sounded in Bahrain and Qatar. The United Arab Emirates reported on Saturday night (7 March) that its forces were intercepting Iranian missiles and drones entering its territory. Saudi Arabia reported having intercepted several drones.
CLIMBING IN TENSION
The event was held after weeks of tension between the 2 countries. On February 19, Trump stated that, within 10 days, he would know whether to give “one step forward” in relation to an attack against the Persian country.
Afterwards, the Republican declared that everyone, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Dan Caine, considers that a possible war against Iran would result in one.
In , on February 24, Trump said that the US had not yet heard Iran pronounce “those magic words: ‘we will never have a nuclear weapon’”. In his speech, the American president stated that the Persian regime “has already developed missiles that could threaten Europe and our bases abroad, and is working to build missiles that will soon reach the USA”.
Trump’s statements were made while dealing with Iran, which did not result in an agreement.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the country if the Americans recognized its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes and lifted economic sanctions.
