Group recorded images leaving the apartment with jokes about the case; they are detained, and the Civil Police are investigating reports of two other victims
Moments after the rape of a 17-year-old student in an apartment in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, those investigated for the crime, a teenager and four men, recorded images in the building’s elevator with celebrations and mocking jokes.
The record shows the group leaving the crime scene. In the recording, one of the investigators says: “Someone’s mother had to cry, because our mothers today…”. Details of the investigation were obtained by Fantástico, from TV Globo.
The crime took place on January 31, when the student was taken to the address by a colleague e found the other four men in the property. According to investigations, the victim refused interaction with the group before being locked in a room and suffering rape.
The five people under investigation are in prison, including the teenager, who is under an arrest warrant. The four adults, identified as Bruno Felipe dos Santos Allegretti (18 years old), João Gabriel Xavier Berthô (19 years old), Mattheus Veríssimo Zoel Martins (19 years old) and Vitor Hugo Oliveira Simonin (18 years old), had already surrendered to police stations, days before, to serve arrest warrants.
More reports against the suspects
Part of the group studied at Colégio Pedro II, the same educational institution as the student, or at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio). After the repercussions of the arrests, the Civil Police received the report of two more teenagers with allegations of rape against same suspectswhich resulted in the opening of new investigations to investigate the cases.
According to delegate Ângelo Lages, from the 12th Police Station, in Copacabana, the cases occurred in October 2023 and October 2025 and are under investigation.
Lages reported that the 2023 victim was 14 years old at the time. She had a relationship with the same teenager involved in the Copacabana case and was lured by him to an apartment in the Maracanã neighborhood. In the property, there were Mattheus Veríssimo Zoel Martins and another boy called Gabriel.
“A report exactly the same as that of the current victim”, declared the delegate who is in charge of the investigations.
A victim of 2025according to Larges, reported having been raped during a student party. She is a student at Colégio Pedro II, where the suspects study. The young woman said she was raped by Vitor Hugo Oliveira Simonim, son of the former state undersecretary of Governance, Compliance and Administrative Management José Carlos Costa Simonim, .
