Zema arrives in Brasília to press for Moraes’ impeachment

Governor states that the initiative will be presented with the Novo bench and cites messages attributed to Vorcaro

The governor of Minas Gerais, (Novo), arrived in Brasília this Monday (March 9, 2026) to file a request for impeachment against the STF minister (Supremo Tribunal Federal).

According to Zema, the initiative will be presented together with the party bench. The order is based on messages assigned to the banker. The material would indicate that Moraes had been provoked into acting in favor of the businessman’s interests in investigations related to.

In a publication in X this Monday (March 9, 2026), Zema stated that he traveled to the federal capital to present the request. “I’m arriving in Brasília to file Alexandre de Moraes’ impeachment request”he wrote.

The governor also stated that Supreme Court ministers must answer for any errors. According to him, no member of the Court has been removed from office in the country’s history.

“Two presidents of the Republic have already been overthrown. But never a Supreme Court minister. Are they untouchable? Don’t they have to answer for their mistakes like any other Brazilian?” these.

ARGUMENTS OF THE REQUEST AND COORDINATED OFFENSE

The authors maintain that the content of the messages would indicate an attempt to interfere in judicial decisions and raise suspicions of crimes such as influence peddling and passive corruption.

The text also mentions the payment of R$130 million in legal fees to Moraes’ wife in processes related to the case, which, according to the proponents, would constitute an indication of a conflict of interest.

Novo decided to open simultaneous fronts of institutional action:

  • on state farm: the deputy (Novo-RS) will present a criminal report against Moraes;
  • not Senate: the senator (Novo-CE) will file a representation with the Ethics Council against the president of the House, (União-AP). Girão accuses Alcolumbre of omission for not submitting requests for impeachment and for making it difficult to install CPIs on Banco Master.

The president of Novo, Eduardo Ribeiro, stated that the party mobilized different institutional instruments because “It is not possible to treat a case of this severity with silence or omission”.

Details of the actions and new legislative fronts will be presented at a press conference this Monday (9th March), at 2:30 pm, in the Blue Room of the Federal Senate. The event should bring together the main leaders of the party and allied congressmen who defend strict supervision of the Judiciary.
