Survey by Paraná Pesquisas shows mayor with 34.6% and nephew of the current governor with 30.3%; margin of error is 2.8 points
Survey of Paraná Researchheld from March 5th to 8th, shows that the mayor of São Luís, (PSD), and the nephew of the current governor, Orleans Brandão (MDB), are leading the race for governor of Maranhão. In the 1st round scenario, the mayor has 34.6% of voting intentions and Brandão, 30.3%.
Next comes (New), which registers 16.1%. The vice-governor (PT) has 6.9%. Another 5.7% of those interviewed said they did not know who to vote for, while 6.4% said they intended to vote blank or cancel their vote. Read (PDF – 509 kB).
The survey interviewed 1,300 voters in the State. The margin of error is 2.8 percentage points, with a 95% confidence level. The research is registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under number MA-00634/2026. According to the company, the study cost R$35,000 and was financed with its own resources.
2ND ROUND SCENARIOS
The research also simulated 2nd round scenarios. In a possible confrontation between Braide and Orleans Brandão, the mayor of São Luís would have 47.3% of voting intentions, against 39.1% for the emedebista.
In another scenario, Orleans Brandão appears with 47.1%, while Lahesio Bonfim reaches 36.8%.

When asked who they believe will win the election for state government, 37.3% of those interviewed declared Orleans Brandão as the favorite. Felipe Camarão is the pre-candidate with the highest rejection rate: 31.2% said they would not vote for him for the position.


STATE GOVERNMENT ASSESSMENT
The survey also measured the evaluation of the governor’s management (without a party). For 11.5% of those interviewed, the administration is considered excellent, while 34.1% evaluate it as good. Another 32.2% classify the government as regular. 6.8% say that management is bad and 13.2% consider it terrible.

DISPUTE FOR SENATE
As for the Senate race, the research also tested scenarios. In a first table, with the presence of Carlos Brandão in the dispute, the current governor has 34.6% of voting intentions. He is followed by Roberto Rocha (PRD), who appears with 27.8%, and by (PDT), with 20.5%.
In a 2nd scenario, without Brandão’s participation, Roberto Rocha comes ahead, with 29.2%. Next come Roseana Sarney (MDB), with 24.4%, and Weverton Rocha, who recorded 21.7% of voting intentions.
