In Los Angeles, Tinder announces new features in its app using AI

O Tinder held this Thursday (12) its first keynote, entitled “Tinder Sparks 2026: Start Something New”, and unveiled product updates, security and AI tools to expand how people initiate real connections.

At an event held with the press in Los Angeles, in the United States, more than ten updates to the platform were shared with the aim of providing “more intentional matches”. THE CNN Brazil was present at the keynote at the company’s invitation and highlights the main ones below:

Spencer Rascoff, CEO of Match Group, cited the importance of holding the first event to publicize the platform’s news. On stage, he mentioned that Tinder is the largest dating app in the world and mentioned that more than two million swipes — a gesture of swiping profiles on the platform — are made every day around the world.

Use by AI

The platform is expanding the Chemistry feature, a personalization based on artificial intelligence, beyond Australia and New Zealand, also reaching the United States and Canada. In Brazil, there is still no forecast of when the functionality will be available.

Through AI, the feature is expected to reduce the fatigue of the dating process.

Instead of endlessly liking profiles, users will receive a curated daily selection based on what truly makes them unique, customized through Q&As and optional features like Camera Roll Scan, which uncovers insights based on patterns in a user’s camera roll.

Another feature brought to life through AI is Learning Mode, Tinder’s real-time recommendation system designed to quickly understand what users are looking for and adapt profile suggestions accordingly.

Whether new to the app or returning to the app, the feature continually collects feedback to highlight more relevant recommendations from the start, allowing users to spend less time browsing and more time having meaningful conversations.

New Modes

Among the main news, Tinder announced two new modes for users around the world. The idea was introduced in 2025 as a way for users to match according to their own style and vibe.

This time, it will be possible to find your soulmate through shared musical taste. The user will be able to select up to 20 tracks, prioritize profiles with common tastes and start the conversation with a possible match through a common favorite song.

Another new possibility to match through astrology, allowing users to add their birth data to unlock their sun, moon and rising signs, as well as view insights into how they can align with a potential match.

Claire Watanabe, VP of products at Tinder, shared that one in six users between the ages of 18 and 22 in the beta version of the feature adopted the new tool.

Live event pilot initiatives

Through the keynote, Tinder also announced that it is testing a beta tool in Los Angeles to discover “real-life” events to connect offline, that is, through a date that singles would be interested in.

Additionally, the app will soon launch a speed dating experience. Users with photo verification will be able to attend virtual events timed for quick three-minute video chats, with the option to add more time and connect with multiple matches in real time.

Visual updates

Tinder will also update the look of the app. Soon, profile photos will occupy the entire screen, with a slight blur from edge to edge, in addition to a “liquid glass” design in the bar where the famous Like and Nope buttons are located.

Users will also be able to include a bio in their Tinder feed and include interests in their profile: such as movies, sports and food.

App security improvements

Reinforcing the concern for users, globally to confirm user verification and take down bots.

At the event, Yoel Roth, who works with the trust and security part of the application, also took advantage of the space to announce improvements to “Are you sure?” — feature that alerts profiles about potentially inappropriate language before sending the message — and in the “Does this bother you?” — which detects potentially inappropriate messages for recipients and makes the reporting process simpler.

According to Roth, over the years, Tinder has launched more than 20 security methods to ensure peace of mind among platform users, including the ability to share dating locations with other trusted contacts.
