Government asks gas stations to pass on a reduction in the price of diesel to the consumer

After meeting with fuel distributors, representatives of the federal government stated on Thursday (12) that they asked the sector to pass on the subsidy and PIS/Cofins exemption granted to diesel to the consumer.

Earlier, the government issued a Provisional Measure zeroing the tax on diesel, which represents a reduction of R$0.32/L, and granted a subsidy of R$0.32/L, adding up to a relief of R$0.64/L at stations for the final consumer.

“We ask the distributors that everything is immediately passed on to the final end. And we are evidently strengthening supervision”, stated Executive Secretary of Finance, Dario Durigan.

Representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Civil House, Mines and Energy, Senacon (National Consumer Secretariat) and the vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) participated in the meeting.

The vice-president also said that the government’s measures prevent an increase in inflation, and that he is convinced that they will have the partnership of distributors for the exemption to “reach the tip”.
