This Friday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) extradited to the United Kingdom a Portuguese man indicted for crimes of murder and serious bodily harm, during a confrontation between gangs in Manchester, in 2020.
After the crimes, the now extradited suspect returned to Portugal, where he worked in constructionwithout being declared.
According to the PJ, the man is part of a group of five suspectstwo of whom were detained in Portugal in January, a third was captured in the Netherlands and the fourth had been detained on March 2. The now detained is the last suspect involved in the crimes that occurred in Manchester in 2020.
Using knives, sabers, baseball bats and other instruments of aggressionthe two groups were involved in serious clashes, resulting in the death of one of the members of the rival group.
that after the crimes, the suspect returned to Portugal, now being detained following the legislative change of December 2025, in which Portugal agreed to hand over national citizens to the United Kingdom for criminal proceedings, giving the United Kingdom guarantees that, in the event of a sentence involving deprivation of liberty, the said citizen will serve the sentence in Portugal.
The detainee was heard at the Lisbon Court of Appeal, which ordered his preventive detention until extradition to the United Kingdom, which took place this Friday morning.
