Agro de SP records a surplus of US$ 2.79 billion in the 1st two months

Exports totaled US$3.37 billion in January and February; sugar, meat and forest products led sales

Agribusiness in São Paulo recorded a surplus of US$ 2.79 billion in foreign trade in the first 2 months of 2026. The positive balance results from US$ 3.76 billion in exports and US$ 0.97 billion in imports.

In the first two months, the sector accounted for 40.2% of the State of São Paulo’s total exports, while agribusiness imports represented 7.5% of the state’s total.

According to the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo, Geraldo Melo Filho, the performance reflects the diversity and competitiveness of São Paulo’s production.

“The result for the first two months confirms the strength and diversity of São Paulo’s agribusiness in international trade. São Paulo brings together production, industry and technology, which allows the State to maintain a solid performance in exports even in a challenging global scenario. Meat, forestry products and the sugar-energy complex continue to demonstrate the competitiveness of our productive sector”he stated.

MAIN EXPORTED PRODUCTS

The sugar-energy complex led São Paulo’s agricultural exports, with 28% of the total and US$ 1.05 billion in sales. Sugar accounted for 94.7% of the value and ethanol for 5.3%.

The meat sector came in 2nd place, with 16.6% of exports, totaling US$623 million. Beef represented 82.1% of this total.

Forest products come next, with US$576.34 million and a share of 15.3%. Cellulose accounted for 67.8% and paper for 26.9%.

Juices represented 9% of exports, with US$337.7 million, of which 96.8% corresponds to orange juice.

Coffee accounted for 7.4% of the agenda, with US$279.17 million. Of this value, 72.9% corresponds to green coffee and 24% to instant coffee.

Together, these 5 groups concentrated 76.3% of São Paulo’s agribusiness exports.

In 8th position, the soy complex registered US$ 120.48 million, with a 3.2% share in the sector’s foreign sales. Soybeans represented 57.9% and soybean meal represented 24.1%.

Compared to the same period in 2025, there was growth in exports of forest products (+16.5%) and meat (+9.8%).

Juices (-44.3%), soy complex (-39.4%), sugar-energy (-8%) and coffee (-5.9%) recorded a drop in revenue. The variations reflect fluctuations in international prices and exported volume.

EXPORT DESTINATION

China was the main destination for agricultural exports from São Paulo, with a 20.5% share. The country mainly purchased forestry products, meat, textile fibers and items from the soybean complex.

The European Union appears in 2nd place, with 16.9%, followed by the United States, with 9.7%.

PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL AGRO

On the national scene, agribusiness in São Paulo occupies 2nd place in the export ranking, with a 16.6% share, behind only Mato Grosso (20.5%).
