The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice revoked the former athlete’s parole benefit on March 5
Hotline Denúncia released this Friday (13) a wanted poster with the photo of former goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes. The Criminal Execution Court (VEP) of Rio de Janeiro revoked on March 5th the freedom benefit former athlete’s parole. The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJRJ) issued a warrant for Bruno’s arrest, under a semi-open regime, valid for 16 years.
The TJRJ said in a statement that since the revocation, the former athlete has not presented himself to the VEP. “It is stated in the VEP process that the goalkeeper’s defense filed, through a petition, with an embargo for clarification. VEP awaits a response from the Public Prosecutor’s Office”, explained the Court.
The Court’s decision came after Bruno travel to Acre, on February 15, without authorization of the Criminal Execution Court. “The convict’s conduct must be seen as negligence in fulfilling the benefit granted to him”, said judge Rafael Estrela Nóbrega.
Bruno was sentenced in 2012 to 23 years and one month in prison for qualified homicide, kidnapping, false imprisonment and bodily harm against Eliza Samúdio, who disappeared in June 2010. In 2019, she progressed to the semi-open regime. In January 2023, the former athlete was granted parole.
