The Supreme Court made it optional for key parts of the investigation to be sent to the commission and suspended Lulinha’s breach of confidentiality
The CPMI (Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) of the INSS will close its work on March 26 if it is not extended by the president of Congress, (União Brasil-AP).
The collegiate was installed on August 20th. The chairman of the commission, (Podemos-MG), wants another 60 days. In these almost 7 months of work, the commission has accumulated setbacks with decisions from the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
The Court made it optional for those being investigated who were considered key players in the investigation into the billion-dollar fraud at the institute. On Wednesday (11 March), André Mendonça released banker Daniel Vorcaro’s former partner, Augusto Lima, from attending the commission. The session has been cancelled.
The testimony of the president of Crefisa and Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, was also postponed following a decision by minister Flávio Dino. The businesswoman must appear before the commission on March 18.
Dino also frustrated the commission’s congressmen by suspending the breach of secrecy approved by the CPMI, such as that of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha.
The government base also managed to block the summons of lobbyist Mônica Moura. A close friend of President Lula’s son, she is suspected of brokering contracts to modernize the INSS system.
VORCARO’S SECRET
In one of the few victories for the investigative wing, CPMI gained access to the telematics data of Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master. The data was leaked to the press and the PF (Federal Police) opened an investigation to investigate the case.
New shipments with information were sent to the commission, but the data will be kept in a safe room. Collegiate members will only be able to access the site without electronic devices. Paper and pen will be allowed.
The board tried to summon the businessman to testify, but Mendonça also refused to go. It was up to the banker to choose whether to go or not. He didn’t show up.
