Iran’s armed forces warned on Saturday that they consider ports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be legitimate targets and urged residents there to avoid them. The army of the Islamic Republic stated this in a statement broadcast by the country’s state television. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
Tehran “regards it as its legitimate right to defend its national sovereignty and territory by attacking US hostile missiles located in ports, docks and US military shelters” in the United Arab Emirates, the central operational command of the Iranian army in Khatam al-Anbiya said. The statement urged civilians in the UAE to “evacuate” the port area.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, smoke was seen rising from the area where the UAE’s vast energy facility is located. According to AFP, this appears to be the latest attack targeting oil facilities in the Persian Gulf, just hours after The US attacked the strategically important Iranian island of Chark.
Clouds of dark black smoke were seen rising from the emirate of Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast on the Gulf of Oman, home to a major port and Iranian forces have already attacked oil storage and trading infrastructure. The port also houses an important oil export terminal.
