Brits reveal beach destination ‘next door’ with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and surprisingly low prices

Fed up with storms? In these paradises it is over 30 degrees and you can go swimming tomorrow

The Costa Cálida coastline, in southeastern Spain, emerges as one of the country’s cheapest swimming destinations for summer holidays. The conclusion is the result of a recent study that analyzes travel reservations and research, pointing to this coastal strip of the Murcia Region as a more economical alternative to some of the Spanish beaches traditionally most sought after by tourists.

According to the website specializing in current affairs and lifestyle, , which cites data from a study by the holiday price comparison site TravelSupermarket, this Spanish coast has stood out for combining relatively low prices with natural conditions that are highly sought after by those looking for sun and beach.

With more than 150 miles of coastline, the equivalent of around 240 kilometers of beaches, the Costa Cálida brings together extensive sandy beaches, generally calm waters and high average temperatures throughout the year.

The region has around 315 days of sunshine annually, one of the factors often cited as determining tourism in the area.

Among the best-known natural elements is the Mar Menor, considered the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe. The shallow waters, which are usually warmer than those of the Mediterranean, attract visitors interested in water activities such as swimming or water sports.

The coastal landscape combines beaches open to the sea with more protected areas next to the lagoon, which contributes to a diverse tourist offer. The region still presents a generally less congested environment than some of Spain’s better-known tourist destinations during the summer months.

The study cited indicates that it is possible to find holiday packages in the area from around 520 euros per person. This price includes different types of accommodation and lengths of stay, reflecting the searches carried out by platform users.

Other Spanish areas also appear on the list

Although Costa Cálida tops the list of most economical options analyzed, the study identifies other coastal regions in Spain that continue to offer relatively competitive prices for beach holidays.

Among the destinations mentioned are the Costa Brava, in the northeast of the country, the Costa de Almería, in the south, and even the Costa Dorada. In the case of Costa Brava, the average values analyzed are around 546 euros.

According to the same source, the analysis was based on all clicks related to holidays recorded on the platform between April 10, 2025 and March 9, 2026.

The survey includes different trip durations, types of travelers, accommodation arrangements, hotel categories and departure locations, allowing the identification of demand trends and destinations with more competitive prices.
