Israel will reopen Gaza crossing for limited movement of people

The Rafah post, the main crossing point between Gaza and Egypt, will reopen for limited movement of people, after being closed at the start of the war with Iran, COGAT, the Israeli military body responsible for humanitarian affairs in the Palestinian territories, reported this Sunday (15).

According to COGAT, the stop will operate from Wednesday (18), in both directions, maintaining the “necessary security restrictions” for the passage of people.

The station was closed for almost two years and had only been open for a month before

Before the war, Rafah had reopened in early February to allow Gaza patients to seek medical care outside the territory. It is not yet known how many people will be allowed to cross now or whether the number will be fewer.

On March 2, COGAT reopened the Kerem Shalom checkpoint for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, but Rafah remained closed until the now announced reopening.
