“Quality, not volume”. It is under this mantra that BYD is operating its . Under the possibility of producing vehicles at its factory in Camaçari, Bahia, the brand’s portfolio, which will soon include two vehicles, will increase this year in the country.
“BYD is the largest developer of new technologies in the world in the automobile market, so it will certainly present new things”, says the vice-president of BYD Brasil, Alexandre Baldy, in an interview with InfoMoney.
At an event at the only Denza dealership in São Paulo, in the Jardins region, a wealthy neighborhood of the city, the executive handed over a unit of the B5 SUV to influencer Ana Paula Siebert, an ambassador for the brand. It is part of BYD’s strategy, which has sought to position itself in the global luxury market also with the Yangwang brand, to bring an aspirational and high-tech vision to Denza in Brazil.
Among the company’s announcements for the coming months in the country is the arrival of the Z9 GT and Flash chargers, capable of transmitting 1.5MW of electricity. The sports vehicle holds the charger and can charge from 10% to 80% in five minutes. 97% charging is reached in nine minutes.
“We have a project to install a thousand super-fast charging stations in Brazil by the end of 2027. This could definitively put an end to charging anxiety when it comes to 100% electric cars”, says Baldy. One of the brakes on the expansion of electric vehicles in the country is the fear regarding .
For now, no Denza vehicle is being produced at the BYD factory in Camaçari, Bahia. According to Baldy, however, it is possible that the B5 SUV will be developed at the plant, which still only operates in the SKD model — when ready-made parts are only assembled here. Regarding deadlines, Baldy says the answer will depend on sales volume.

In the national ranking of the premium vehicle segments, Denza reached seventh position in market share, with 4% of licenses and 124 units. It is close to Land Rover, which has a 6.1% market share. In the Federal District, where one of the brand’s three dealerships is located, Denza led the segment with a 30% share.
