The announcement was made by Pedro Junio, the club’s vice-president of football, shortly after the match
Cruzeiro fired coach Tite on Sunday night (15). The announcement was made shortly after the 3-3 draw with Vasco in the Brazilian Championship. Even with one more player, Raposa played poorly again and only managed to equalize in stoppage time. Despite having won the Campeonato Mineiro, the coach was already under pressure from the fans.
The announcement of Tite’s departure was made by Pedro Junio, the club’s vice-president of football, shortly after the match. “We came to communicate the dismissal of Tite’s technical committee. We thank Tite and his entire committee for the service provided to Cruzeiro, they were dedicated and dedicated, but our results and our performance make us make this decision to change”, he said
The executive also said that Wesley Carvalho will take over the Celeste team on an interim basis while the club searches for a new coach.
After a dominant first half, the Minas Gerais team saw Vasco turn around at the beginning of the second half with two goals from Barros, who minutes later was sent off and gave Cruzeiro the chance to avoid the worst in their domains.
With the result, however, the Belo Horizonte team continues without winning in the current edition of the Brasileirão, was three points behind and ends the round in second place. On the other side, the Rio team went five and jumped to 15th place.
The game
The tight duel of the Brasileirão got off to a rocky start in Belo Horizonte. After a balanced start, Cruzeiro managed to stand out in the seventh minute, when Matheus Pereira threw a ball into the area for Kaiki Bruno, who sent a header into the middle and Christian, also with a header, found Léo Jardim’s net, opening the scoring for the home team.
The Minas Gerais team almost scored another goal at 19, when Matheus Henrique crossed the line with Matheus Pereira and hit the ball close to the post. Vasco managed to respond soon after, when Andrés Gómez received it from Tchê Tchê, played with a cavadinha and hit the crossbar.
However, after the strong start, the game dropped in performance and only had a great chance again at 47, when Tchê Tchê played with Paulo Henrique, and after a deflection by the defense, sent it towards the goal, but William, on top of the line, took it off his shoulder and avoided the draw.
Back in the second half, however, the game completely changed scenery in less than 10 minutes. At five, Paulo Henrique cut to the middle and saved Matheus Cunha, who sent it to the corner. On the kick, Cuiabano sent it to the head of Barros, who sent it into the back of the goal and tied the match.
Soon after, at eight, it was Paulo Henrique’s turn to make a good move on the right and cross to Cuiabano, who stopped in defense of Matheus Cunha. However, on the rebound, Barros, with his head again, turned the match around. However, Vasco’s number 88 went from heaven to hell in just a few minutes.
At 10, the midfielder made a hard foul on Matheus Pereira, and after analysis by the VAR, he was sent off. Renato Gaúcho then removed two wingers and added two full-backs, to reinforce the team defensively. However, the strategy did not work. At 23, Gerson saved Léo Jardim, who caught another one soon after, on a shot from William.
The pressure from the home team, however, had an effect in the next minute. At 24, William crossed for Chico da Costa, who headed the ball and had a deflection from Villarreal to kill Vasco’s goalkeeper and tie the match. After the goal, the pressure from the Minas Gerais team increased even more. However, the match had new episodes.
At 40, in one of the few times that Vasco went on the attack after the expulsion, Paulo Henrique played to Puma Rodríguez, who set up with his heel for Brenner to hit from the edge of the area, deflect in William and kill Matheus Cunha, putting the Rio team ahead on the scoreboard once again.
However, once again, the pressure from Minas Gerais was fatal for Renato Gaúcho’s team. After Matheus Pereira and Chico da Costa put a lot of danger on Léo Jardim, at 49, Kauã Moraes crossed from the right and Japa, with a header, tied the duel again.
With no time to waste, the teams are already preparing for the seventh round of the Brasileirão. On Wednesday, Cruzeiro goes to Arena da Baixada to face Athletico-PR, starting at 7:30 pm. Soon after, at 9:30 pm, it’s Vasco’s turn to face Fluminense, at Maracanã.
