Justice demands ankle bracelet from prisoner who has no legs and retreats

After defense objection, judge ruled that prisoner could be under house arrest without using the equipment

The Santa Catarina Court granted house arrest to a convict who is missing both legs, with the condition that he wear an electronic ankle bracelet. According to the man’s defense, represented by criminal lawyer Diego Valgas, after requesting a new analysis, judge Maria Augusta Tonioli revoked the requirement to use the equipment.

Valgas, who publicized the case on social media, states that the detainee’s physical condition was clearly documented in the file. The criminal lawyer questioned the execution of the court order.

“How are you going to implement this court order?”he stated. “I confess that in more than 15 years of profession, I don’t know how this will happen”he declared.

The request for house arrest was based precisely on the client’s health problems and physical condition. The defense presented arguments based on these circumstances to obtain the grant of the benefit.
