The hospitalization of the former president (PL) rekindled, in the (Supreme Federal Court), an effort for the minister to authorize his transfer to home care.
At court, at least two ministers close to Moraes are dedicated to this convincing effort, .
The idea is that conversations will be resumed during the period in which there is still no forecast for an increase. In the words of a minister, the transfer became a humanitarian issue.
In January, Bolsonaro’s allies and a wing of the STF even bet that Moraes’ decision to change the location of the former president’s prison was an initial step towards sending him to home rule.
In the decision determining the transfer to the unit called Papudinha, the minister said that serving the sentence is not a “hotel stay” nor a “holiday camp” and refuted the criticisms of the former president’s children about the conditions in the Federal Police General Staff room.
Still, these ministers saw the decision as an opportunity to return to home rule.
This assessment gained strength after the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), appeared in court. Michelle was received by Moraes himself, to whom she reported her husband’s clinical and emotional situation.
The explosion of the Banco Master case, with mention of the minister’s wife, combined with attacks by Bolsonarists on Moraes, would have made any agreement unfeasible. But, after hospitalization, the possibility of decreeing home care returns to the table.
Bolsonaro’s allies claim that the former president’s health condition is critical and that he is unable to be alone. On Saturday (14), senator and pre-candidate for president Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) said that the defense is awaiting a new medical report to formalize the request for house arrest to the Supreme Court.
“The appeal is here once again. And I hope that we can present the request for humanitarian domicile as quickly as possible. We are just waiting for the average report”, said the senator after visiting his father at the private DF Star hospital, where he is hospitalized.
Bolsonarists also emphasize that Bolsonaro’s situation is as serious as that of Bolsonaro, who received from Moraes, last year, the right to serve time at home due to the diagnosis of Parkinson’s and the risk of falling.
Bolsonaro has been hospitalized since last Friday (13), with bilateral bacterial pneumonia resulting from bronchoaspiration. The former president showed clinical and laboratory improvement in the last 24 hours, with recovery of kidney functions and inflammatory markers, according to a medical bulletin released this Monday (16).
In January, he suffered a mild head injury. Moraes initially denied going to the hospital immediately, after a medical report from the PF which confirmed, and demanded the list of procedures from the defense. Based on the additional documentation, the minister released the former president for examinations.
The one who pointed out that Bolsonaro is able to remain imprisoned in Brasília in Papudinha, as long as he receives special care, at the beginning of last month.
