The police charged a 26-year-old man who attacked another man with a meat cleaver at one of the bus stops in Spišská Nová Ves. The Regional Directorate of the Police Force (KR PZ) in Košice reported on the social network that the incident happened on Sunday (May 17) evening.
“The police received a report of an injured man at one of the stops in Spišská Nová Ves on line 158. The thirty-nine-year-old man suffered several serious injuries to his head and limbs. Unconscious, he was taken to the hospital, then to one of the hospitals in Košice. According to the preliminary statement of the doctors, he suffered serious injuries with possible permanent consequences. the police said.
The patrol on the spot restricted the suspect’s personal freedom and subjected him to a breathalyzer test, the result of which was almost 1.7 per thousand. After carrying out the necessary procedural steps, the investigator of the criminal police department of the KR PZ in Košice charged him with the particularly serious crime of attempted murder.
“According to the investigation so far, he should have repeatedly attacked the victim with a kitchen meat cleaver and hit him at least ten times,” added the police. At the same time, the investigator processed the proposal for his custodial prosecution. If found guilty, he faces a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years.
