President of the BC participates in public hearing on the bank’s liquidation, decreed in November 2025
The president of the (Central Bank), will participate at 10 am this Tuesday (May 19, 2026) in the Senate’s (Economic Affairs Committee). He will talk about the extrajudicial liquidation of , determined by the monetary authority on November 18, 2025.
The hearing was approved by the commission after the liquidation of the bank and the operation of the Federal Police, which targeted executives linked to the institution. Senators want to hear from Galípolo about the BC’s actions before the decision and about the effects of the measure on the financial system.
Banco Master was at the center of negotiations with (Bank of Brasilia) before settlement. The purchase of part of the institution by the public bank was blocked by the BC in September 2025. The monetary authority decreed the liquidation after identifying problems that made it impossible to continue operations.
