The plane of Federal Police landed in Bolivia to pick up Brazilian Douglas de Azevedo Carvalho, aged 34, arrested on Sunday (15) in Santa Cruz de La Sierra. He is considered one of the main leaders of organized crime in Minas Gerais.
The operation was carried out jointly by the PF and the . After boarding, the flight continues to Brasília and then to Belo Horizonte, where the suspect will be sent to the state penitentiary system.
Known as “Mancha”, Douglas is being investigated for money laundering and participation in a criminal organization. According to authorities, he commanded the faction called Tropa do Douglas, also known as Tropa da Doideira (TDD), and later allied himself with the Primeiro Comando da Capital.
The criminal was on the run and lived in Bolivia in a property valued at around R$15 million, in a high-end condominium in Santa Cruz de La Sierra. He was also the subject of an arrest warrant from the Minas Gerais court and was on the wanted list of the Captura program, run by the Ministry of Justice.
According to investigations, Douglas had broken the electronic ankle bracelet and left it inside a stuffed animal in the city of Capitolio (MG), before fleeing the country. The expectation is that he will remain in custody in Minas Gerais while he responds to the charges.
