The decision was announced one day after minister André Mendonça ordered the blocking of information present on Vorcaro’s device
The president of the INSS CPMI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), said that the Senate Legislative Police will investigate possible leak of information from the commission’s safe room, which had access to information on the phone seized from Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master.
This decision was announced this Tuesday (17), one day after the minister André Mendonça, from the Federal Supreme Court (STF) of access by CPI members to the content present on Vorcaro’s device.
Viana had already expressed concern that the content obtained by the CPI could be leaked, in order to invalidate evidence that could be used against Vorcaro.
“This information (about the leaks) will be duly investigated by the Legislative police. What we know is that, unfortunately, there were attempts and leaks of some information that should only remain within the scope of the investigation and private information linked to Mr. Daniel Vorcaro’s breach of confidentiality, which could make the evidence unfeasible,” Viana told journalists.
According to the president, the commission’s priority is preserve the material to avoid nullification of evidence. There will be a meeting with the Senate lawyers on the afternoon of this Thursday, 19th, to analyze Mendonça’s decision.
“First, we have to follow the rules. And, at the same time, we ask the minister’s office when this material will be returned, as soon as the private information is removed from this scope. I hope that the material will be back as soon as possible so that we can complete the analysis work and parliamentarians can continue their work”, said Viana.
The present content Vorcaro’s cell phone was stored on computers in a safe room since last Friday (13). Only members of the INSS CPMI and a selected list of advisors to these parliamentarians could analyze this material. This group was only allowed to take notes – electronic devices were prohibited from entering the room, which was protected by a metal detector.
