The Ministry of Transport and the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) said that electronic and field inspections have been intensified over the last few months
The Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, announced this Wednesday, 18, additional measures to ensure compliance with minimum freight rates for road freight transport. In several regions of the country, it is being highlighted by category leaders.
“Whoever insists on disrespecting the table will be effectively held responsible, as a transporter, contractor, shareholder or controller of the company, with measures that will interrupt the irregularity, discourage recurrence and correct market distortions”, stated the minister in a post on X.
Renan Filho defended the need to “advance in the protection of truck drivers and the balance in cargo transport in Brazil”
The Ministry of Transport and the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) reported that electronic and field supervision in the sector has been intensified over the last few months.
“However, this expansion was not sufficient to fully guarantee compliance with the minimum freight price table, in accordance with Law 13,703/2018. Therefore, additional measures will be adopted in order to guarantee regulatory progress for compliance with the law”, stated the minister.
The government claims that it faces strong speculation in fuel prices, taking into account the geopolitical context and the international price of oil.
Regarding minimum freight floors, Renan Filho pointed out that there is still a “low effectiveness model” compliance with these values, making adjustments necessary.
The minister assured that the federal government would be seeking “fair remuneration” for compliance with the table.
The Ministry of Transport also said that the government may even revoke the registration of companies who consistently fail to meet the freight rate in the country.
In the government’s opinion, this is one of the main demands of truck drivers in relation to Pasta and there are large players in the market who purposely disregard the freight minimum.
There is also the possibility of publishing the names of companies that prefer to bear the legal burden of not complying with the law than paying truck drivers the minimum.
