The session of the CPMI (Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) of the INSS (National Social Security Institute) scheduled for this Wednesday morning (18) was cancelled.
The decision came after Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), released her from appearing before the collegiate.
The hearing was scheduled for 9am this Wednesday. Leila had been summoned through a request approved by parliamentarians, which would make her presence mandatory.
The requests that summoned the businesswoman and president of Banco Crefisa were presented by deputy Sidney Leite (PSD-AM) and the CPMI rapporteur, federal deputy Alfredo Gaspar (União Brasil-AL).
The rapporteur argues that Crefisa started to play a central role in the topic investigated after becoming the biggest winner in the auction that defined the payment of new INSS benefits.
Gaspar states that the testimony is necessary to clarify whether the institution’s senior management was aware of complaints and possible irregularities reported by beneficiaries, what measures were adopted, within what deadlines and what internal control mechanisms were activated.
According to the request, retirees and pensioners would have faced situations such as pressure to open accounts, difficulties in accessing benefits and contracting products and services without adequate information, a scenario that, according to the parliamentarian, could be close to abusive practices.
