On Sunday afternoons there is a lot of activity in Café Jelinek in Vienna’s sixth district. As many faces can be seen here, there are so many stories about life to tell here. Some of these life stories are recorded in the People’s Life collection of the Austrian Media Library, which has been growing continuously since 2009. For this purpose, MenschLeben collects biographical interviews. The oral history interviews not only contain data and facts, but also personal stories, experiences, perspectives and memories. The collection makes stories accessible that would otherwise often remain invisible. The interview with Christian Schreibmüller offers a special insight into the history of the Viennese open space scene in the early 1980s.
