Kuwait thwarted Hezbollah’s attack plan. He detained ten militants preparing strikes on infrastructure

Kuwait thwarted a plan for a terrorist operation against key infrastructure. He detained ten citizens connected to the banned Hezbollah and revealed their background.

Kuwait detained 10 militants linked to the pro-Iranian Shiite movement Hezbollah on Wednesday, accused of plotting “terrorist” attacks against key infrastructure, the country’s interior ministry said. TASR writes about it according to an AFP report.

Gulf countries have faced daily attacks from Iran since the outbreak of the Middle East war involving Tehran-backed groups, including Hezbollah.

“The State Security Service successfully thwarted a plan for a terrorist operation targeting critical facilities,” the Interior Ministry said. “Ten citizens, members of a terrorist group linked to the banned terrorist organization Hezbollah, were detained,” it added.

The ministry released a video of the seized items, which included movement flags, drones and photos of Iran’s assassinated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike in 2024. This is the second Hezbollah-linked cell to be seized in Kuwait this week.

On Monday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced that it had detained 16 people – 14 Kuwaitis and two Lebanese nationals – linked to the aforementioned movement, who were planning sabotage. The department said the group was trying to recruit new members and had seized a number of weapons, camera drones and Morse code communication equipment. Hezbollah denied that its members were among those arrested.
