The protest carried out by atypical mothers and fathers continues to close a section of BR-364, near , on the afternoon of this Wednesday (18). The mobilization, which began around 1pm, continued until at least 5pm, causing disruption and long queues of vehicles in both directions of the highway.
The protesters demand the presence of Mayor Gerlen Diniz at the site to open direct dialogue with the families. According to them, the main demand is the hiring of school mediators, professionals considered essential to ensure adequate monitoring of children with specific needs in the municipal education network.
According to parents, the absence of these professionals has hampered the development and inclusion of students, in addition to creating difficulties in the school environment. “We need a concrete response. Our children cannot continue to be harmed”, reported one of the mothers who participated in the event.
The protest has been marked by moments of tension throughout the day, especially due to the total blockage of the highway, one of the state’s main connecting routes. Even so, the protesters claim that they should only release the track after an official position from the mayor or the guarantee that the demands will be met.
So far, there has been no confirmation that the municipal manager has gone to the site. Meanwhile, the impasse remains and congestion continues to increase, affecting drivers who need to travel through the region.
