Colombian striker Santi Moreno is about to end its stay at Fluminense. The likely destination is North American football, which is why the player was left out of the classic against Vasco.
After the setback this Wednesday (18), the coach explained the athlete’s absence.
“Santi Moreno has a proposal from abroad. That’s why this week he was not listed, because there is a concrete possibility of going to an MLS team. So, until this situation is resolved, he will not be listed,” said the coach.
Performance below expectations
Hired last year, Moreno was unable to establish himself at Laranjeiras. During his career at the club, he only played 13 games — five in his debut season and eight during 2026.
With only four appearances as a starter and no goals scored, his last appearance occurred on February 25, in the defeat against Palmeiras, when he played for just a few minutes.
To get the striker from Portland Timbers (USA), he spent R$32 million. In the United States, the athlete had solid numbers: 22 goals and 31 assists in 146 games. Due to his profile, he was labeled as the “New Arias”a comparison he immediately tried to avoid.
Sequence
Still without Santi Moreno, Atlético hosts him on Saturday (22), at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the eighth round of Series A of the Brazilian Championship.
