At the PF, Vorcaro occupies the same room where Bolsonaro served 54 days in prison

The transfer of banker Daniel Vorcaro to the Federal Police prison in Brasília placed him in exactly the same space where former president Jair Bolsonaro was imprisoned after his conviction for the coup plot, according to GLOBO. The change, authorized by Minister André Mendonça, occurs at a time when the owner of Banco Master formalized a confidentiality agreement and began negotiations for a plea bargain agreement. The movement requires greater proximity to the Federal Police and the Attorney General’s Office.

Until then, Vorcaro was in custody in the federal penitentiary system, in a maximum security cell at the Brasília Federal Penitentiary. The space, measuring around 6 m², follows a strict standard of isolation: concrete furniture integrated into the structure, absence of television or electrical outlets, lighting and bathing controlled externally and a routine marked by severe circulation restrictions. Detainees spend most of their time alone, with the right to limited exits, always under escort and following security protocols.

In the PF prison, where Bolsonaro was detained, conditions are significantly better. The room is twice the size, around 12 m², and was adapted to receive authorities, with a private bathroom, bed, closet, desk, television, minibar and air conditioning. The model follows the “General Staff Room” standard, provided for in legislation for prisoners with prerogative function, with the aim of guaranteeing differentiated conditions and reducing risks to physical integrity.

The change represents, in practice, a relevant flexibility in the custody regime. In addition to the broader structure, the PF environment allows for greater logistical ease for internal travel, legal assistance and possible hearings, which is seen as compatible with the current phase of investigations.

The banker arrived at the PF Superintendence in the early evening of Thursday, after leaving the federal penitentiary system by helicopter. He had been in prison since March 4 and, since his transfer to Brasília, the defense had been trying to remove him from the maximum security regime, arguing that the conditions made contact with lawyers and the progress of the legal strategy difficult.

In Bolsonaro’s case, his stay in the PF was not temporary. The former president spent 54 days in the corporation’s prison, between November 2025 and January 2026, before being transferred to the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha.
