KPC (Kuwait Petroleum Corporation) said that the Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery, in Kuwait, was attacked by drones this Friday (20.mar.2026). In a statement on X, the company declared that the attack caused fires in several units and parts of the installation were closed preventatively.
“No injuries have been reported and emergency teams are actively working to contain the situation in accordance with established safety standards.”says the note.
The refinery had already been hit by drones on Thursday (19 March). Regarding this incident, KPC said that in addition to Mina Al-Ahmadi, the Mina Abdullah refinery was also hit.
The company stated that they were being taken “all necessary measures to maintain safe and stable operations at all its facilities”.
The attacks are attributed to Iran. The country has been intensifying offensives in the Persian Gulf after Israel bombed, on Wednesday (18 March), the South Pars gas field, a reserve shared between Iran and Qatar that constitutes the largest natural gas exploration field in the world.
Iran attacked the largest industrial complex and liquefied natural gas export port Ras Laffan, located in Qatar. State-owned QatarEnergy reported “extensive damage”.
