In a meeting this Thursday (19th March), the category decided to meet again in 7 days to discuss the possible strike
The groups representing truck drivers from different regions of Brazil decided at a meeting this Thursday (19 March 2026) to postpone for at least 7 days the strike they were considering carrying out across the country. Truck drivers’ representatives will meet again next week to deliberate on the possible strike.
The category’s decision came after the one which toughens punishments for non-compliance with the minimum floor for road freight. The document establishes the possibility of a fine of up to R$10 million per operation in case of repeated non-compliance.
The information about the postponement of the strike was confirmed to the Poder360 by Wallace Landim, the Chorão, president of Abrava (Brazilian Association of Motor Vehicle Drivers).
“I see progress in this first moment, but we still want to make some changes”declared Chorão.
The president of Abrava said that the truck drivers’ representatives intend to meet on Monday (23. March 2026) with the minister of the Civil House, (PT)to discuss points that the category still wants to incorporate into the law.
One of the examples that truck drivers still intend to include in the standard is that tolls are free for these transporters when they are returning with an empty truck, with the cargo already delivered.

The measure announced this Thursday (19th March) also determines harsher punishments for transport companies that violate the standard. These include the suspension of (National Register of Road Cargo Transporters) and, in repeated cases, the cancellation of the registration, which prevents the company from operating for up to 2 years.
Another point of the MP is the mandatory (Transportation Operation Identifier Code) for all freight operations. The system will function as a digital record of the contract, gathering information about the contractor, transporter, load, route and amount paid. If the freight is below the minimum threshold, the issuance of the code will be blocked.
The CIOT should also be integrated into the (Electronic Manifesto of Tax Documents), allowing the crossing of data with the Brazilian Federal Revenue and state tax authorities. The expectation is to increase control over compliance with the minimum price policy in the sector.
The measure also expands liability for companies within the same economic group and provides for punishments for shipping advertisements at values lower than permitted. THE (National Land Transport Agency) will have 7 days to regulate the new rules.
