The actor, director, writer and playwright died in the early hours of Saturday (21 March 2026) at the age of 91. He had been admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, since March 13, due to pneumonia associated with a cardiological condition.
In a statement, the artist’s family stated that his health was delicate and thanked him for the expressions of affection and solidarity.

“With regret, we announce the death of the actor, author and director Juca de Oliveira, which occurred in the early hours of March 21, 2026, at the age of 91.
“Recognized as one of the great names in Brazilian performing arts, Juca de Oliveira built a solid and admired career in theater, television and cinema. A member of the Academia Paulista de Letras, he stood out as a performer, but also as an author and director of relevant works, marked by a critical outlook, social sensitivity and a strong audience presence.
“Throughout his career, he participated in important theatrical productions, many of them of his own creation, in addition to being part of the casts of soap operas and television programs of great national reach. His performance has always been guided by artistic rigor and commitment to Brazilian culture.
“Juca de Oliveira had been hospitalized since last Friday (13/03), in the cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Sírio-Libanês, due to pneumonia associated with a cardiological condition. In recent days, his health condition was considered delicate.
“The family appreciates the expressions of affection and solidarity.”
Trajectory
Born in São Roque (SP), Juca de Oliveira began his career in theater in the 1950s. He participated in more than 30 soap operas and miniseries, more than 10 films and 60 plays, in which he also acted as director.
One of the most notable roles in the actor’s career was that of the geneticist Doctor Albieri, in the soap opera “O Clone”yes TV Globo. Juca was also a member of the Academia Paulista de Letras.
The wake will be held this Saturday afternoon (21 March), in Bela Vista, central region of São Paulo, at 11 am. The burial will be on Sunday (22 March), at the Araçá Cemetery.
