Moraes wants the PGR’s opinion on Bolsonaro’s domicile – 03/20/2026 – Politics

The minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), determined this Friday (20) that the (Attorney General’s Office) should comment on the possibility of granting humanitarian house arrest to the former president.

Moraes sent to the Attorney General of the Republic the information provided by the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, about the health status of Bolsonaro, who is hospitalized to treat bronchopneumonia resulting from bronchoaspiration. There is no forecast for an increase yet.

As shown by Sheetand had the participation of Flávio and the governor of , (Republicans), the Bolsonarista bench in the and STF ministers.

An argument used by politicians and other ministers alongside Moraes was the risk that Bolsonaro’s eventual death would be seen politically as the responsibility of the Supreme Court. At least five judges understand that letting Bolsonaro serve his sentence at home would be the best option.

When treating Bolsonaro on the morning he fell ill, the medical team on duty at Papudinha cited the former president as the reason for transferring him to the hospital, as stated in a report sent to the STF by the custody unit.

When requesting Bolsonaro’s home stay, the former president’s defense stated that there was a worsening in his health condition and that the unit known as Papudinha is incompatible with the preservation of the former president’s health and physical integrity.

The hospitalization was considered by the lawyers as a fact supervening on Moraes’ decision which, on March 2, . Therefore, a reconsideration was requested. Before deciding, however, the minister asked for the PGR’s opinion.

The information provided by DF Star was shared with Gonet. Moraes states that “the medical record and other updated information about the hospitalization were presented”, which includes the tests carried out and the medications being administered.

Bolsonaro is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison in Papudinha, imposed by the First Panel of the STF, which considered him the leader of a criminal organization that sought to carry out a coup d’état.
