Artur Jorge takes charge of Cruzeiro and promises to "turn around" the difficult moment

Artur Jorge arrived in Belo Horizonte this Monday to begin his role as Cruzeiro’s new coach, having signed a contract valid until the end of 2027.

The Portuguese coach, from Al Rayyan, takes command of the team at a delicate moment, as Cruzeiro is at the bottom of the Brasileirão.

Upon arrival in Brazil, the 54-year-old coach was pleased to return to the country and motivated by the new challenge, after a successful spell at Botafogo. Speaking to the local press at the airport, he highlighted his enthusiasm for the project and his confidence in the ability to reverse the current scenario.

“It’s a pleasure to be here. I’m happy to return to Brazil and to be part of a Cruzeiro project, a project that motivates me. We have a lot ahead of us, but that won’t be a problem”, he told journalists present at the airport.

The Braga-born coach highlighted that he believes in the working group and that the priority is to recover the team’s competitive level and return the “true Cruzeiro” to the field.

“We are going to turn around the situation we find ourselves in. I believe in mine and we are going to enhance the true Cruzeiro with them”, he concluded.

Artur Jorge succeeds Tite, who had replaced Leonardo Jardim as coach, after the recent change in the bench.

The immediate mission is to take the club out of last place in the championship, where they only have three points, the result of four draws and four defeats, without any victories.
