The minister explained in an interview with ‘Jornal Jovem Pan’ the package of measures announced by the federal government this Tuesday (24) for the category
The Chief Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Guilherme Boulosdefended this Tuesday (24) the salary floor for drivers and delivery people per app. In an interview with Jovem Pan newspaperthe licensed federal deputy explained the package of measures announced earlier by the federal government aimed at the category.
“The platforms have promoted the idea that, if the worker is paid with dignity, the service will increase and become unviable. This is not true. We need to ask ourselves, as a society, if someone who stays in the rain and sun, takes risks, works like crazy, takes hot food to our home, sometimes without having eaten, if that person does not deserve to be treated with dignity”, argued the minister.
Regarding remuneration, Boulos said that the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) “assumed” the demand from delivery people by proposing to increase the minimum amount paid by platforms from R$7.50 to R$10. The additional per kilometer would rise from R$1.50 to R$2.50. In a document sent to the National Congress, Planalto suggests the end of “grouped deliveries” made on the same route, in which companies charge the consumer without passing it on to the workers.
The federal government package also stipulates the installation of support points in cities with a higher concentration of delivery people. These places must have a bathroom, changing room, eating and rest area and free connectivity.
As a complementary initiative to the package, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security issued an ordinance so that platforms are obliged to inform the consumer of the percentage of the amount paid intended for the delivery person or driver. Workers and restaurants will also have access to the information. The measure comes into force in 30 daysa period in which companies must adapt to the standard.
