Senator questions the logic of temporary benefits for his father: “If his health improves, will he go back to where he got worse?”
The senator (PL-RJ) classified it as “exotic” e “contradictory” the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, who granted humanitarian house arrest for 90 days to his father, the former president (PL). In an interview with GloboNews This Tuesday (March 24, 2026), the congressman questioned the temporary nature of the measure, arguing that returning to prison after an eventual improvement would be incompatible with the purpose of the decision.
“It is an innovation: a provisional humanitarian house arrest. If he is going home because his condition might get worse, does that mean that, if it gets better, he can go back to where his health was getting worse? It’s something I couldn’t understand“, he stated.
MEDICAL CARE AT HOME
Flávio declared that the family must provide permanent nursing or medical assistance at the residence to accompany the former president. The main concern, according to him, is to avoid new accidents resulting from “pictures of imbalance” or side effects of reflux medications, which can cause falls or fatal bronchoaspiration.
The senator confirmed that former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro will be with her husband permanently, which would help to identify health problems quickly, unlike the isolation he faced in prison.
BOLSONARO’S MENTAL HEALTH
When describing the period in which Bolsonaro was at the PF Superintendency before going to the 19th PM Battalion (Papudinha), Flávio reported conditions that he called “totally inadequate”: small cell and environment “surrounded by white walls, without a plant, a flower, with an infernal hum of air conditioning”.
The senator highlighted that the former president’s mental condition tends to worsen in isolation and that going home is a way to mitigate this risk.
CONTRADICTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS
Asked about the apparent contradiction between the PL’s speech against human rights and the request for humanitarian treatment for Bolsonaro, the senator denied any inconsistency. For him, the process is “political” and the result was already known “by those who would judge him”. “He was tried and condemned by his enemies. An innocent person condemned because they no longer wanted him running in an election”he declared.
