Brasília Airport: Renegotiation will be voted on by the TCU in the coming weeks

A renegotiation of Brasília International Airport should advance to analysis in the Plenary of the TCU (Federal Audit Court) in the next 15 daysaccording to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

The process is confidential and the department did not provide details that will be adjusted in the contract, however, Silvio Costa Filho commented that there is a positive feeling for the renegotiation.

The Secretary of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Daniel Longo, explained that the rapporteur of the process at the TCU, Antonio Anastasia received the renegotiation process at the beginning of March, which the minister indicated that “the process is complete” and that he should not ask for an extension of the deadline to deliberate in plenary.

The federal government and Inframerica reached a consensus on the renegotiation of the airport contract at the end of January and, industry sources say that the agreed points are excellent for Inframerica.

The request to renegotiate the Brasília International Airport contract was presented by the ministry to the TCU in July last year. The renegotiation is seen as necessary because the airport was unable to reach the passenger volume expected in the concession contract.

Brasília airport was transferred to the private sector in 2012, under a contract that provides for a 25-year concession. Inframerica holds 51% of the company’s assets. Another 49% are from Infraero.
