According to the former mayor, the position has become incompatible with his performance and electoral political activity
Gilberto KassabSecretary of Government and Institutional Relations of the State of São Paulo and national president of the PSD, announced this Wednesday (25) that he left his position in the government of São Paulo.
According to Kassab, the position became incompatible with his performance and electoral political activity for the elections.
“In view of the intense activities in the partisan and electoral fields that appear in the 2026 political calendar, with elections for president, governors, senators and deputies in October, my role as Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations of the State of São Paulo becomes incompatible with my political and electoral activity during this period”, he wrote.
He classified it as an honor to work with Governor Tarcísio de Freitas. He also said that the decision to support the candidate in the 2022 elections was a good one.
He also reinforced his support for the governor in another comment on the same post and “to preserve the State of São Paulo on the right path, under the command of Governor Tarcísio, and to bring Brazilians a proposal for government and the country, through our candidate for president of the Republic”.
He also wrote that the government is “full of achievements and notable advances in all sectors, such as Health, Education, Sanitation, Infrastructure, Mobility, Security, Housing” in the last four years.

“In view of the intense activities in the partisan and electoral fields that appear in the 2026 political calendar, with elections for president, governors, senators and deputies in October, my role as Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations of the State of São Paulo becomes incompatible with my political and electoral activity in this period. Therefore, I leave the secretariat of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, who I had the honor of joining since the first day of his term.
In 2022, the PSD made the right decision to support Tarcísio’s candidacy, as it was clear that he was the most prepared to adopt the measures, implement the projects and actions that the State of São Paulo required to continue and intensify its development. His government arrives, four years later, full of achievements and notable advances in all sectors, such as Health, Education, Sanitation, Infrastructure, Mobility, Security, Housing, among others.
I thank Governor Tarcísio for the privilege I had with the opportunity to join his secretariat to, at his side, contribute to this important mission, doing my best to achieve the government’s objectives.
The success achieved in all sectors over these four years accredits the governor and his government to postulate a reappointment, which has the support of the PSD, as occurred when he was elected.
I extend my hug and gratitude to my secretariat colleagues for their ongoing partnerships and solidarity, wishing everyone much success in their missions.
I congratulate all my PSD-SP companions for the continued trust they have shown me, in the people of Alda Marco Antonio, Alfredo Cotait and Guilherme Afif Domingos. I would like to posthumously thank my congressman and minister Antonio Delfim Netto, a friend of my family, my voter on several occasions and advisor in many decisions throughout my career. Delfim was the first one who signaled to me the importance of electing Tarcísio governor of São Paulo.”
