Caiado should announce Kassab as vice this Wednesday

The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) should announce this Wednesday (1st) the name of the party’s national president, Gilberto Kassablike vice on his ticket to the Palácio do Planalto. The information was confirmed by Estadão with a source in the pre-campaign. The name of the former mayor of São Paulo had already been circulated since May, when Kassab said he was “available”, if that was Kassab’s choice.

On Monday (29), Caiado confirmed that the vice-president will be announced at a press conference in Brasília this Wednesday, at 11 am. However, he avoided confirming what the name would be or even whether it would be from his same party, as is the case with Kassab.

So far, Caiado has no support from other parties for the presidential contest. He even talked to Romeu Zema (Novo), who is also a pre-candidate, but there was no progress towards a union of the two candidacies.

The former governor of Goiás appears technically tied with Zema and also Renan Santos (Missão) in most surveys, far from Lula (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), the first two placed.

BTG/Nexus research released on Monday shows Lula with 42% and Flávio with 34% in the first round. Following are Caiado, with 5%, Renan Santos, with 4%, and Zema, with 3%. Former minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Joaquim Barbosa (DC) appears with 2%. White, null or none account for 5% and did not know or did not respond, 3%.

The survey interviewed 2,009 voters aged 16 or over between the 26th and 28th of June. The survey has a confidence level of 95%. Registration with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is BR-08521/2026.
