Representative Mario Frias (PL-SP) filed representations with the Attorney General’s Office and the Electoral Attorney General’s Office asking for an investigation into a network of pages on Facebook and Instagram that spent more than R$1.1 million in two months to promote content against senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
The documents, to which the Young Pan had access, cite profiles such as Radar do Planalto and Dossier Brasil 24h, registered almost simultaneously in Meta and without identifying those responsible.
Frias asks for the preservation of technical and financial data from the pages with Meta and points out possible hidden financing, abuse of economic power and the use of intermediaries to hide the real sponsors of the advertisements. It will be up to the PGR and the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office to decide whether to open a formal procedure.
“These elements, considered together, indicate plausible operational coordination or, at the very least, sharing of common technical infrastructure. These are not, therefore, independent and spontaneous manifestations of different users, on the contrary, the documentary elements suggest the existence of a centralized or articulated structure for the production, distribution, promotion and financing of sponsored political content”Mario Frias
