The minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, (Psol), stated this Tuesday (June 30, 2026) that the president (PT) surpasses the former president (PL) in policies aimed at agribusiness. During an interview with the program Good morning, Ministerhe said that, “in times of the World Cup”Lula does “7 a 1” in Bolsonaro in supporting the sector and stated that producers concerned with the results of the activity are satisfied with the current government.
“Since we are in World Cup times, it is not even 2 to 1. It is 7 to 1 for President Lula, from the point of view of what he does for Brazilian agriculture, for small and medium-sized businesses, especially with the resumption of the PAA, the Food Acquisition Program, with the use of public purchases and with the resumption of regulatory stocks”, he stated.
The statement was made when answering a question about the political resistance faced by the government in Mato Grosso, a state where agribusiness has strong economic influence. According to Boulos, anyone who analyzes the sector from an economic perspective, and not an ideological one, recognizes the government’s results.
“Whoever is from agriculture, from agribusiness, and is concerned about their business, about the progress of their economy, and not about the ideological nonsense of Bolsonarism, I think they are satisfied with the Lula government,” Boulos said.
The minister stated that support for agribusiness must be measured by public policies implemented, and not by speech. As an example, he cited the reopening of two Petrobras fertilizer factories, in Bahia and Sergipe, to reduce Brazil’s dependence on imports.
This Tuesday (June 30) the government launched the 2026/27 Harvest Plan for Corporate Agriculture, with R$525 billion in credit for funding, investment and commercialization of agricultural production. The value represents an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous harvest, or R$9 billion more than allocated to the 2025/26 cycle.
“Supporting Brazilian agriculture is not about talking slogans, getting on a horse to take a photo. Supporting Brazilian agriculture means investing, guaranteeing good credit with the Safra Plan and having policies for fertilizer production.”
When comparing governments, Boulos stated that the previous administration did not take measures to expand national fertilizer production.
“Another government that claimed to be friendly to agriculture did nothing. President Lula reopened two Petrobras fertilizer factories in Bahia and Sergipe. Today we are 80% dependent.”
In the minister’s assessment, part of the resistance to the government arises from political factors, and not from the situation of the sector. “There are those who have been bitten by Bolsonaro’s ideological fly. Whatever happens, the Lula government can provide all the guarantees and all the improvements that the guy will insist on denying reality”, said the minister.
Boulos also stated that the government maintains investments in states governed or mostly aligned with the opposition. He cited Mato Grosso and Santa Catarina as examples of Federation units that received federal resources regardless of the election results.
“If Lula thought small, ‘Mato Grosso didn’t vote for me, so I’m not going to give investment to Mato Grosso; Santa Catarina didn’t vote for me, so I’m not going to give investment to Santa Catarina’, the people of these states would be harmed. But he doesn’t do that.”
According to the minister, the 2 states registered record federal investments during the current government. “There was record investment in Santa Catarina, record investment in Mato Grosso, much more than in the previous government, in all areas.”
