Rain, snow and strong wind may occur in Slovakia on Friday (March 27). The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) therefore issued warnings. He informs about it on his website. The first-level rain warning is in effect all night until 8:00 a.m. for the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions and the districts of Myjava, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Komárno and Šaľa.
Meteorologists also expect on Friday snowfall from five to 15 centimeters of snow. The first-level warning for almost the entire Bratislava Region is valid from midnight to 10:00 a.m. For the districts of Ilava, Myjava, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Považská Bystrica, Púchov, Trenčín, Piešťany, Senica, Trnava, Bytča, Kysucké Nové Mesto, Námestovo, Tvrdošín, Čadca and Žilina, the SHMÚ warnsand snowfall from midnight to 8:00 a.m.
Furthermore, SHMÚ warns of strong winds. Meteorologists have issued a first level warning for the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions, districts of Myjava, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Trenčín, Nitra, Topoľčany, Šaľa, Brezno, Michalovce, Rožňava, Košice, Košice-okolie, Michalovce, Trebišov, Kežmarok and Poprad. A wind warning is in effect for western Slovakia all night and then all Friday. In eastern and central Slovakia, expect wind from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Expect strong winds in the mountains in the districts of Poprad, Dolný Kubín, Liptovský Mikuláš, Martin, Námestovo, Ružomberok Tvrdošín, Žilina and Banská Bystrica. There is a first level warning. Meteorologists announced the second level of warning for the district of Brezno. “On the mountains above 1,500 meters, the occurrence of strong winds is expected, which will reach a short-term (in gusts) speed of 135 to 160 kilometers per hour or an average speed of 90 to 105 kilometers per hour, which is a strong to powerful gale,” brought closer by SHMÚ. SHMÚ also issued hydrological warnings, which are provisionally valid from midnight until Saturday (March 28). Floods are threatening in the districts Bratislava, Dunajská Streda, Komárno, Galanta, Malacky, Myjava, Pezinok, Senec, Senica, Skalica, Trnava and Šaľa. “Given the predicted rainfall, we expect a significant rise in water levels with the possibility of reaching the level of flood activity,” clarified.
