Trump extends truce on attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure until April 6

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday (26) that he will extend the pause in attacks against Iranian energy facilities for another 10 days, until April 6. According to him, the decision responds to a request from the Iranian government itself.

The announcement was made in a post on the Truth Social network: “In response to the request of the Iranian government, this statement serves to inform you that I am pausing the period of destruction of energy plants,” wrote Trump.

In the same message, the president stated that talks with Tehran are ongoing. “Negotiations are ongoing and, despite misleading statements to the contrary from the ‘fake news’ media and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The original five-day pause in attacks on Iran’s power plants and other energy infrastructure was to end on Friday. Trump had announced this truce on Monday, also via Truth Social.

The war began on February 28, with attacks by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.

Earlier, in a conversation with journalists at the White House, Trump said that there are “very substantial conversations underway” regarding Iran. Tehran, in turn, denies that it is in direct negotiations with Washington.
