England coach, German Thomas Tuchel, applauded this Wednesday Harry Kane, who scored both goals in the 2-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 32nd round of the World Cup.
“He’s getting better and better,” said a smiling Tuchel when referring to the Bayern Munich striker, who reached 5 goals in the 2026 World Cup and 13 in World Cups (he has already played two others).
Kane scored in the 30th and 41st minutes of the second half; Brian Cipenga scored the Africans’ goal at 7 minutes into the first half.
Tuchel, in addition to recognizing his star, highlighted the team’s patience to recover after “the worst possible start”.
“We continued to believe. We had the worst possible start. First shot, first goal and the game was complicated, but after the first hydration break, we improved and dominated”, analyzed Tuchel.
“We should have had a penalty referring to a move on Kane himself. The reserves came in, tried hard and we won. Deserved, but we had to work hard. We need to have this mentality: if things get difficult, they get difficult, but we cannot lose patience or faith”, added the coach.
The complaint came after reviewing images that clearly show an attempted simulation by the English striker, who did not receive a yellow card for the infraction.
Having qualified for the round of 16, the English face Mexico, at the Azteca Stadium, at 9pm on Sunday (5).
